To check an entire network, run NetCheck on all Macintoshes and see if each device lists every other device. A discrepancy in the list between two Macintoshes indicates a connector problem between the two (a disconnection, faulty cable or faulty connection box).
If you know the network layout, you can check any two points on the network by running NetCheck on every device between the two points and looking for a discrepancy in the list of names. Or you can identify a landmark, like a shared device, and work backwards from there until you find the ‘break’ in the network.
